Score 91/100 · Drink 2001-2011, Robert Parker, Jun 2001

The 1999 Shiraz (100% Shiraz that achieved 14.5% alcohol and was aged in 50% new oak, most of which was American) is an opaque ruby/purple-colored wine with classic smoky black fruits in the nose, along with some licorice and pepper. The wine is deep, full-bodied, and admirably concentrated, with a plush texture, and serious opulence and length. This thick, juicy fruit bomb can be drunk now and over the next decade. One thousand cases were produced. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283

Deep, bright ruby. Knockout nose combines blackberry, bitter chocolate, smoked meat, tar and dried herbs. Chewy, pliant and deep, with expansive flavors of dark berries and licorice. Offers near-magical texture and fruit intensity for young vines. Delicious shiraz.
