Score 87/100 · Drink 1988-2000, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
The 1983 La Louviere had one of the darkest colors of all the wines in a tasting of major Graves wines put on for me by the Union des Grands Crus. This medium- to full-bodied wine has shed the tannins and now exhibits wonderful ripeness, excellent balance, deep, concentrated flavors, and a sweet, earthy, tobacco fragrance. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 1/88.

About the producer

La Louviere
Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
