2002 Neal Family Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon was one of the most pleasant surprises in my survey of the 2002s. A glorious wine, the 2002 offers up an intoxicating mélange of dark cherry, espresso, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and blood orange. Time in the glass reveals striking dimension and tons of complexity, with endless layers that open gradually. It's an absolutely gorgeous wine. Tony Biagi made the 2002 when he was just 30, presaging what has turned out to be a brilliant career.
