Young and unevolved, with some obvious oak, the 2019 Clos De La Vieille Eglise nevertheless shows considerable elegance and purity, with classy cassis and black cherry fruits, medium-bodied richness, silky tannins, and terrific overall balance. The purity of fruit is top-notch. Give bottles 4-5 years and it should evolve for 15 years or more.

The 2019 Clos de la Vieille Église still feels a tad overripe on the nose, hints of prune percolating through the black and red fruit, though it is not as extreme as others I have tasted. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe tannins and maybe a tiny bit of brettanomyces. If anything, it adds a little personality, and there is fine persistence on the finish.

The 2019 Clos de la Vieille Église is a bold, juicy Pomerol. Inky red fruit, sweet spice, mocha, wild flowers, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco are front and center. This opulent, racy Pomerol has a ton to offer in a flamboyant style that can be enjoyed pretty much upon release.

The 2019 Clos de la Vieille Église comes across just a little overripe on the nose, although it is not too excessive, just a faint tincture of fresh prune and dates in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of balsamic on the entry, fresh and quite edgy with black cherries and a hint of black olive on the finish. A bit "gawky" but it should meld together.
