Tasting notes
Dark, shimmering purple. Intensely perfumed cherry, black currant, boysenberry, Indian spice and incense aromas are complemented by suggestions of vanilla and woodsmoke. Shows outstanding clarity and energy in the mouth, offering pliant black/blue fruit, candied violet and spice-cake qualities; a sweet cola nuance emerges with aeration. Juicy and energetic on a strikingly long, juicy finish that features well-knit tannins and lingering spiciness. One-third new French oak.

The 2017 Nemesis is a Syrah-based wine, blended with 12% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre and 4% Graciano. It has a medium to deep ruby-purple color and very pure scents of fresh blackcurrants, blueberries, violet, sage, iron and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with mineral-laced fruits and loads of spicy accents. It has a firm but ripe supporting frame with juicy uplift and a long finish. What a beautifully balanced Syrah!
I was able to taste three wines from Linne Calodo. Starting with the 2017 Nemesis, it's based on 77% Syrah, 12% Grenache, 7% Mourvèdre, and the rest Graciano that was aged two years in 35% new French oak. Beautiful raspberries, blackberries, toasted spices, brambly herbs, and ground pepper notes emerge from this beauty, which is full-bodied and offers no hard edges, rock star tannins, and a great finish. It's another stunning wine from this great winemaker.
