A mix of clones planted in 1971. Relatively short fermentation of around seven days, with no cold soaks or post-fermentation maceration. This is followed by 22 months of barrel maturation, with 25% of the blend in large format oak (1500 litre or larger), and 15% in new barriques (225 litre). Unusual nose: some oak sweetness but also a touch of polish and spice and leather. Possibly starting to dry a little though there is a fine red fruit fragrance right to the end and a silky structure.
