Tasting notes
Intense red berry aromas are found in the nose of the 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin Le Poissenot. This powerful, flavorful, sappy effort is crammed with loads of black cherries, violets, red fruits, and spices. Gorgeously concentrated, pure, and long in the finish, it is an extroverted, fruit-dominated, medium to full-bodied wine. Projected maturity: 2005-2012. Importer: Daniel Johnnes/Jeroboam Wines, New York, NY; tel. (212) 625-2505 and Kysela Pere et Fils, Fran Kysela, Winchester, VA; tel. (540) 722-9228

Red-ruby. Highly complex nose combines raspberry, minerals, rose petal and smoke. Extremely stylish and perfumed in the mouth, with compelling sweetness and great palate coverage. The wineÂ’s strong floral and mineral components give it great finesse. Slow-mounting, very long finish shows extremely fine tannins. I would have picked this blind as Clos Saint-Jacques.
