Tasting notes
Corino’s 1999 Barolo Giachini has aged beautifully. Sweet tobacco, flowers, truffles, mint, licorice and worn-in leather are woven together nicely in the glass. With time, the Giachini typically becomes quite polished and refined with bottle age, and that is exactly what has happened here. Still quite youthful, the 1999 is in a very pretty place where the tannins have softened, but there is still plenty of life ahead. The 1999 Giachini remains one of the standouts of this vintage.

The 1999 Barolo Giachini, from the estate’s home vineyard, is sweet and floral, with notes of caramel and chocolate, elegant and velvety in flavor, but with an inner core of strength as well. Drink this balanced, well made Barolo from 2005 and 2018. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel.
