Tasting notes
Easily the best of the 2022s from Boich, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard comes from one of the truly great terroirs for Cabernet Sauvignon, and To Kalon clearly excelled in this challenging vintage. Deep ruby-hued, it has a pure, layered, medium to full-bodied style with ripe red and black fruits, polished silky tannins, plenty of flowery incense and spice, ample mid-palate depth, and outstanding length. It's a complex, balanced, and graceful 2022 with tons to love, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve nicely for 20 years, which is rare for the vintage. Drink 2025-2042.

All Clone 337 from Block E1, Boich's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon features scents of deep and dark loam, dried spices and black cherries on the nose. This full-bodied wine is rich, concentrated and mouthfilling yet without excess weight or alcohol (despite being labeled at 15.5%), finishing long, vibrant and mouthwatering. It's a terrific effort by winemaker Jeff Ames.
