Tasting notes
The 2016 Fleurie Cuvée Tardive unfurls in the glass with notes of dark cherries, spice and potpourri. On the palate, it's full-bodied, textural and richly structured around fine-grained tannins, with considerable concentration and depth. Though the Cuvée Tardive is more reserved than the regular bottling, it's a lot more giving than the 2017 at this stage.

Hint of brûlée on the nose. Lovely ripe strawberry fruit well-covered in dusty tannins. Texture forward of fruit. Good stuff. Chewy, properly chewy. Hint of minty/fennel herb and a bit of spice. Needs food. I’d like a seared duck breast with redcurrants here. Or Persian lamb salad with pomegranates. (TC)
Lurid magenta. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes ripe boysenberry and black raspberry, along with pungent floral, spice and herb notes. Coats the palate with sweet red/blue fruit, candied violet and spicecake flavors that deepen and spread out steadily with aeration. Conveys a suave blend of richness and energy and finishes extremely long and nervy, displaying harmonious tannins and resonating florality.
