Tasting notes
I realized I received the same vintage as last year, the 2012 Clos de los Siete and as the wine was already poured I tasted it again. This is always a sure value, a consistent wine, nicely crafted with fine tannins and subtle oaking and good balance between fruit and élevage. In line with what I sampled last time.

Silver medal winner. 57% Malbec, 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah 9%, 2% Petit Verdot. RS 2.8 g/l. 70% of the blend barrel aged for 11 months (one-third new French oak barrels, one-third one-year-old barrels, one-third two-year-old barrels); 30% in vats. Dark purple. Clean, fresh nose is very direct. Confident and complete. No rough edges. Very well done. Ripe start and then just the right amount of acid and tannin. (JR)
