Tasting notes
This is a new, single-vineyard wine from Verbena. The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Le Pope is driven by dark, sultry fruit and sweet oak. Those two contrasting sides of the wine build a powerful fruit profile and determined momentum. The fruit is strong and well defined in this vintage; however, there is a lot of oak spice and toast added to the mix, calling for some smoked brisket. The wine sports a thick and darkly saturated appearance.

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is intensely perfumed, with a display of spiced black cherries, hints of balsamic, air-dried meats, dusty florals, and white smoke. Fleshy textures give way to ripe black cherry and sweet spices, with hints of tobacco and inner earth tones. The finish is long and dark, lingering on notes of balsamic, dried cherries and saturating fine tannins. The 2015 Verbena can be enjoyed today and with medium-term cellaring.
Rich and dense Brunello with lots of ripe tannins and fruit. Hints of figs and dried cherries. Full body, round and ripe tannins and loads of fruit. Needs two or three years to come completely together. Better after 2021.
