Tasting notes
Medium brick colored, the 1975 Hill of Grace opens with notes of coffee, walnuts, tree bark, salami and truffles. It gives nice, refreshing acid alongside medium levels of chewy tannins that support savory fruit flavors and a long finish with some sweaty leather notes. It is mature. Also slightly fizzy at the rim. Dark rose red. A hint of roses and a bit of jamminess on the nose. Sweet and just a little overblown and over developed. Dry tannins lurk. Just not quite enough fruit concentration. Did this get a little too hot? Or did the fruit just not ripen enough? (JR)
Impressive depth of ruby. Sweet and rich on the nose. Then acidity slightly too marked for comfort on the palate. Definitely drying out. An old wine. (JR)
