A really fine-tannined wine that caresses your palate with currants, black olives, light bark, and hints of thyme and lavender. Medium-bodied, with layers of fine tannins that are compacted and focused. Tight and closed now. But lots going on. Biodynamically farmed. Vineyard across Lake Hennessey with western exposure. Better in two or three years.

In case you're not familiar with the periodic table, element 28 is Nickel, and this vineyard—located on the north side of Lake Hennessy, with a view of Pritchard Hill—is owned by one of the family members. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Element 28 is nicely savory and earthy, combining dried spices with notes of raspberries and redcurrants. Medium to full-bodied, it's dusty and earthy, with plenty of tannins but balanced by a ripe-tasting, long finish. Give it some time in the cellar before pulling a cork.
