Tasting notes
2006 Wild Witch Shiraz displays a deep garnet-purple color and plenty of black cherry and warm blackberry fruit with nuances of cedar, coconut, black pepper, cloves, nutmeg and licorice. Medium-firm fine-grain tannins and high acidity lend a solid backbone to the generous, ripe berry fruit with lots of vanilla and spice lingering long into the finish. It needs 18-24 months in bottle for the oak to marry a little more and should drink to 2020+. Trevor Jones does not currently have a USA importer.

The Wild Witch Dry Grown Shiraz Reserve offers greater complexity and structure. Purple-colored, it has a fragrant, already complex nose of smoke, incense, game, blueberry, and a hint of chocolate. Mouth-filling yet elegantly styled, it has excellent depth, balance, and length. Give it 2-3 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2012 to 2021.
