2005 Gemstone Red Facets of Gemstone

Their 2005 Proprietary Red Facets, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, was aged in 100% new French oak for 19 months prior to bottling. Only 515 cases were produced. The wine is an elegant style of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, with minerality, notes of black and red currants, a deep ruby/purple color, sweet notes of cedar wood and mocha as well as hints of chocolate and licorice. It seems to have reached full maturity, where it should stay for another 5-10 years.
