Tasting notes
Limpid straw-gold. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe pear, peach nectar, vanilla and buttered toast, and a smoky mineral quality builds in the glass. Sappy, seamless and penetrating, offering concentrated orchard and pit fruit flavors braced by dusty mineral and bitter citrus pith flourishes. Clings impressively on the mineral-driven finish, leaving toasty lees, brown butter and ripe citrus fruit notes behind.

The 2016 Chardonnay Côte Sud Vineyard aged 15 months in 40% new French oak. The nose offers singular aromas of mushroom pastry, nutmeg, pie crust, baked apples and crème fraîche accented by notes of lemon peel, acacia, honey, crushed stone and oats. Medium-bodied and silky, it slowly opens its flavors, gaining in intensity. Lifted by juicy acidity, it has a touch of texture on the long, layered finish.
A very complex and assertively styled chardonnay with a gently flinty edge. Grilled hazelnuts on offer here, too. The palate has a very sleek, composed and layered feel with assertive, fresh acidity and a driving, long and polished palate that has immense freshness and length. As impressive as ever. Drink or hold.
