Score 92/100 · Drink 2011-2019, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2009

My favorite of the portfolio is the 2007 Pinot Noir Renegade Ridge, sourced from a 12-acre, biodynamically farmed vineyard. It offers up a complex aromatic array of smoke, spice box, rose petals, raspberry, and cherry. Ripe, sweet, and layered on the palate (unusual in this vintage), the wine has enough ripe tannin to evolve for 2-3 years as well as excellent concentration and length. Drink it from 2011 to 2019. Archery Summit is best known for its vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs. However, the winery produces a small quantity of one of the finest Pinot Gris’ of the Willamette. Anna Matzinger, Archery Summit’s winemaker, describes her 2007s as “nervy and vivacious”, a fair characterization. Valley. www.archerysummit.com

Vivid red. Spicy, finely etched redcurrant, raspberry and cherry aromas are deepened by sexy cola and anise notes. Medium-bodied flavors of red fruits and candied flowers are braced by a subtle mineral quality and gain sweetness with air. A deeper black raspberry note builds on the finish, which is invitingly sweet and nicely persistent. This is drinking well now and is more graceful than the Arcus Estate today.
