Medium red. Deep, sappy aromas of black cherry and licorice, with a hint of fresh herbs. In a rather muscular style, with firm acidity and a slightly phenolic character giving the black fruit flavors a youthful hard edge. This evolved nicely in the glass, though, putting on weight and taking on a floral character.

The 2006 Pinot Noir Peay Vineyard, from a cool climate site, displays notes of cherries, cola, and herbs. The wine has a certain leanness and austerity, with some dry, aggressive tannins in the finish. The color is dark, and there is a certain stemminess to the fruit character. I am not so sure this wine has the fruit and material to cover up the structure, hence judgment is reserved. Tel. (707) 942-4699; Fax (707) 942-5142
