Score 88/100 · Drink 2018-2023, Josh Raynolds, Mar 2016
Vivid ruby-red. Aromas of dried cherry, red currant and leather carry cracked pepper and olive overtones. Taut and smoky on the palate, offering bitter cherry and cured meat flavors and a sweetening suggestion of chewing tobacco. In a wild, old-school style, displaying good finishing persistence, slightly drying tannins and repeating game and pepper notes. This year's bottling lacks the depth of fruit that its 2012 sibling possesses and the funky, gamy elements stand out more, which will appeal to hard-core fans of the style.
