Drunk from jeroboam, Boillot's 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Village remains youthful, offering up a gently reductive bouquet of crisp orchard fruit, ripe citrus, buttered toast and iodine, followed by a medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive palate with a satiny attack that segues into a nicely layered core, concluding with a saline finish.

A little muddy on the nose. Solid and ticks the boxes but it’s a tad soft – especially when tasted immediately after J M Boillot’s Combettes! Sour lemons on the end. Lots to chew on. (JR)

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Village from Henri Boillot has a tightly wound bouquet that needs some encouragement, but eventually reveals attractive flint and cold limestone scents, a touch of undergrowth in the background. The palate is fresh and vibrant with Granny Smith apple and pear, though I was seeking a little more joie-de-vivre on the rather abrupt finish. Hopefully that will come with bottle age.

Pale, green-tinged yellow. Musky peach on the nose. Supple and thick on the palate, with a sweet white peach flavor leavened by brisk saline minerality. Finishes with an inviting light touch. This very promising wine comes from several estate parcels located around the village.
