Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2020
Brought up in 10% new oak, the 2017 Gevrey Chambertin Les Vieilles Vignes is a darker, smoky, more earthy effort, which is classic Gevrey-Chambertin. More licorice, graphite, and forest floor notes emerge with time in the glass, and it’s medium-bodied, has terrific balance, plenty of both tannins and acidity, and a great finish. Drink this brilliant Village wine any time (give it a decant if drinking any time soon) over the coming 15 years or so.
