Tasting notes
Good medium red. Strong oak tones currently overshadow cherry and strawberry on the nose. Then supple and suave but initially rather subdued and lacking in real personality; seemed dried by oak and rather tannic. But this pinot exploded with aeration, gaining in richness and sweetness of fruit and showing impressive persistence.

The brilliant 2004 Pinot Noir Finn reveals sweet black cherry, forest floor, and subtle mint and smoke aromas, a meaty richness, and broad, savory, full-bodied flavors. This stunning red should drink well for a decade. As I said last year, DuMol is one of my favorite wineries, primarily because of the passion and commitment to quality of owner Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith.
