The more Grenache-dominated 2019 Rising Tides reveals a mostly opaque ruby hue and a seamless, pure, graceful style in its black raspberry and cherry fruits as well as toasted spice, garrigue, and subtle leather-like aromas and flavors. The balance is spot on, it has silky tannins, and a great finish. The blend is 67% Grenache, 26% Syrah, and the rest Graciano, and it was aged in mix of new and neutral barrels. I was only able to taste a few of Matt Trevisan’s Linne Calodo releases, but these continue to be terrific wines that are overflowing with character. The wines are almost always blends and focus either on Rhône varieties or Zinfandel-based blends. I loved both 2019s I was able to taste, and the 2020s showed well, although the 2020 Nemesis seemed to have some influence in the aromatics, so it’s one to watch, and I would drink that bottle in its youth.

Saturated ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of red and dark berry preserves, licorice, cola and exotic spices are complemented by a strong floral overtone. Sappy, finely detailed Chambord, cassis and blueberry flavors utterly stain the palate and turn spicier with air. Finishes smooth, lively and exceptionally long, with resonating florality and polished tannins that add subtle closing grip.

The 2019 Rising Tides is a pretty blend of Grenache (67%), Syrah (26%) and Graciano (7%). Medium ruby-purple, it features alluring wild berries, rooibos tea, dried rose petals and dark spices on the nose, gaining more aromatic nuance as it opens in the glass. The medium-bodied palate has fine, grainy tannins and balances intense, spicy fruits with addicting juicy uplift, finishing long and layered.
