Tasting notes
Moving to the reds, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Côtes Capelan showed nicely, with a deep purple/plum color as well as powerful notes of blackcurrants, black raspberries, scorched earth, peppery garrigue, and a touch of smoked meat. These all flow to a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated 2018 that has plenty of mid-palate depth, building structure, and a great finish. One of the more youthful, concentrated, age-worthy 2018s out there, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and shine for a decade. It’s a smoking 2018.

A potentially terrific wine, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Cotes Capelan delivers oodles of stunning purple raspberries on the nose and in the mouth. Full-bodied, it's atypically rich and big for this bottling, ripe and plush but structured, with a silky, lingering finish.
