Full bottle 1,631 g. 20 months in French oak barrels, 80% new and 20% neutral. 408 cases produced. Deep purple. Dense black cherry and black plum on the nose with a savoury minerality and earthiness. Dense high-extract fruit on the palate with high levels of round tannin and a light sweetness and char to the finish. Incredibly ripe and structured. Lots of room to age. (SCJ)

From a vineyard on Howell Mountain (formerly owned by Krug/Mondavi) and vines planted in 2004, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Cold Springs Vineyard has a meaty, bloody character to go with classic Howell Mountain notes of bouquet garni, dark chocolate, and ripe black fruits. This puppy has full-bodied richness, lots of tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. It's not, however, for the instant gratification crowd. Hide bottles for 4-6 years if you can, and it should evolve for two decades.
One of my favorite Revana bottlings is the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Cold Springs Vineyard, from a vineyard on Howell Mountain planted by Jim Barbour for the Charles Krug Mondavis. Scents of blueberry and pine lead the way, accented by hints of sage and cola. Full-bodied, this is rich, concentrated and tannic but ripe, with a long, lingering finish and ample freshness.
From Cold Springs Vineyard, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a big, burly, black and blue-fruited mountain Cabernet with classic Howell forest, bouquet garni, iron, and tapenade notes. It's rich and medium to full-bodied, with ripe, building tannins and gorgeous overall balance. It's a stunning barrel sample.
