Tasting notes
A best block selection from the estate in St. Helena, there are 125 cases of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Block 6, which is clearly a sensational wine as well as my favorite in the lineup. Ripe black fruits, savory herbs, graphite, and a Graves-like scorched earth and gravelly, smoky character all define this beauty, and it's full-bodied and concentrated, with ripe tannins and a great, great finish. In short, it has everything you could want from a top Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I love it even today, in a youthful sort of way, but I suspect it will be at its best from 2029-2049.

Emerging from the estate vineyard in northern St. Helena, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 6 is a selection of the best barrels from the best block. Masses of cherries appear on the nose, alongside hints of cedar, vanilla and toasty oak. For some, it may seem a bit overly wooded, but there are lovely fruit and dried-spice nuances that should balance things out in the long run. Full-bodied and framed by silky tannins, the wine finishes long and supple.
