Tasting notes
Deep ruby-red. Black fruits, licorice and dark chocolate lifted by menthol and peppermint. Medicinal and clenched; very difficult to taste now but this extremely primary wine boasts terrific definition and a violety lift on the back that almost comes as a surprise. The powerful tannins will require long aging. I recall that this was also rather stunted a year ago from barrel.

Deep, bright ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice, menthol and mocha, all lifted by minerals. Juicy, firm and tightly wound, with a mineral lightness to its black fruit flavors. A bit hardened by gas. This is very backward and currently dominated by its strong tannic structure. Perhaps best today on the very long, lively aftertaste.
