Tasting notes

Tasting notes
Score 88-91/100 · Robert Parker, Oct 1997

This is the second time I have tasted Guigal's 1994 Hermitage. The six component parts were tasted and rated between 85-86 and 90-92. The final rating should fall somewhere in the upper eighties. The wine exhibits good color, a deep tar and cassis-scented nose with jammy fruit, medium to full body, moderate tannin, and plenty of muscle and richness in the finish. Guigal is one of the cellars where the wines always taste better after they are bottled than they do from cask, although as the scores in this segment indicate, some profound wines can be found in the 1994, 1995, and 1996 vintages Chez Guigal.
