From a San Benito vineyard planted on pure limestone comes the Vista Verde Pinot Noir. The 2001 reveals straightforward sweet and sour cherry and herb notes along with a peppery finish. It tastes like Pinot, but lacks complexity and length. All things considered, 2001 and 2002 are the finest back-to-back vintages I have tasted from Williams-Selyem. Tel. Good medium ruby. Aromas of roasted black raspberry, minerals, flowers, licorice and pepper. Sweet, dense and juicy, but still a bit youthfully tight in the middle palate. Finishes with a flavor of dark chocolate and some noticeable oak tannins that give a faint edge to the aftertaste.
