Mid crimson. So different from the Corton-Les Renardes, the fruit very ripe on the nose even though there seems to be a stemmy note on the palate. Light bodied though the fruit weight is better in balance here with the tannins. (JH)

The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is 100% whole cluster and matured in 30% new oak. Maybe here the whole cluster is too vocal on the nose, where it occludes the terroir expression and the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity, but does not quite kick on in the same manner as the superior Clos de la Roche. Attractive, but not profound.
