Tasting notes
Olivier Humbrecht fashioned extraordinary Rieslings from the 1994 vintage (a magnum of his '94 Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos St. Urbain consumed recently at Napa's stellar French Laundry was utterly breathtaking). The Clos Windsbuhl exhibits a healthy green/straw color and mind-boggling aromas reminiscent of petrol, fresh herbs, candied lemons, tea, and loads of minerals. This full-bodied, silky-textured wine is a show-stopper. Its unbelievably precise, delineated, and focused personality is redolent with liquid minerals and super-ripe citrus fruits whose flavors last throughout its amazingly long finish. Magnificent to drink at present, this bone-dry beauty has the potential to last twenty years or more.
