Tasting notes
Scents of smoke, crushed stone, raspberries and olives are joined by hints of leather and clove on the nose of the 2017 Cote Rotie la Vialliere. Medium to full-bodied, this is a richly textured wine that seems to be maturing more rapidly than most vintages, with the tannins already velvety in feel on the long finish.

Deep ruby. Smoke- and mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry scents are complemented by suggestions of pipe tobacco, violet, smoked meat and cracked pepper. Densely packed and chewy in texture, offering gently sweet, spice-tinged dark berry, cherry compote and floral pastille flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. The spicy note returns on an impressively long, penetrating finish that shows fine clarity and assertive tannins.
