Tasting notes
Chiquet's 2000 Brut Blanc de Blancs d'Aÿ shows what can happen in a strong vintage with extended time on the lees and aging in a large-format bottle. Voluptuous and seamless to the core, the 2000 flows across the palate with superb richness and depth. Dried apricots, pears, white flowers, mint, cinnamon and Chamomile are some of the notes that inform the radiant finish. 3 liters.

(aged for 130 months on its lees and disgorged in October, 2012): Light, bright gold. Musky, floral scents of mango, orange zest and jasmine. Bright and lively but concentrated on the palate, offering tangy lemon curd, buttered toast and peach flavors. Finishes round, supple and very long, with a suggestion of candied ginger. I tasted this sample from a double magnum.
The 2000 Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs d'Aÿ (magnum) is beautiful for the way the ripeness of Aÿ and the vintage play off the verve of Chardonnay and the large format. There is an inner tension to the wine that makes for great, highly pleasing drinking, while hints of tropical fruit linger on the finish. Once again, the significance of the big bottle is not lost. This is Lot L-REM00-10, disgorged January 13th, 2010. Magnum
