Score 93+/100 · Drink 2024-2032, Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2023

Crushed blackberries, grilled sage and flowery underbrush aromas waft up from the 2020 Les Deux Freres. This balances ripe red and blue fruits against zesty acids and spiced citrus, all while soothing the palate with its silken textures. Violet candies and lavender tones cascade throughout the long, darkly floral finale as chalky tannins slowly fade. While fruit-focused, this is beautifully balanced. Les Deux Freres is a blend of 54% Grenache, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Tempranillo refined for eighteen months in 20% new oak.

The 2020 Les Deux Frères is a blend of 54% Grenache, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Tempranillo. It has a medium ruby-purple color and scents of Italian plum, strawberry candy, mushroom and garrigue with savory undertones. The medium-bodied palate is somewhat rustic and chalky with ripe fruit character and a savory finish with a touch of nagging bitterness.

Impressively fragrant nose full of racy red cherries, strawberries and licorice spices. Pretty juicy and smoothly wound with a medium body on the palate. Spicy and fruity finish to close. 54% grenache, 29% cabernet sauvignon and 17% tempranillo. Drink now.

Looking at the reds, the 2020 Les Deux Freres has a darker, earthy core of smoked red and black fruits, leather, graphite, and roasted herbs. This carries to a medium to full-bodied blend with good overall balance, some solid, slightly chewy tannins, and a good finish. The blend is 54% Grenache, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 17% Tempranillo. While a step down from the 2019s, these latest 2020s from brothers Arnaud and Guillaume Fabre are solid wines.
