The stylish 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon John Riddoch soars close to perfection with everything in its place. It’s beautifully expressive but also balanced with a core of graphite, blackberry and blackcurrant fruits. They are offset by a dusting of dried herbs plus a core of high quality French oak, which is perfectly matched. I love the energy, brightness and poise - classic Coonawarra. It’s also quite tightly coiled with graphite, gravel flavours laced with significant, yet fine tannins that retain focus and grace through to a finish of outstanding length. Already delicious but built for the long haul.

Blackish crimson. Some real freshness to this wine. Cassis and a certain brightness of fruit. Over-assertive tannins cost it marks. (JR)
