Tasting notes
(from a 1988 planting): Good saturated, bright red-ruby. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate. Fat, lush and round, offering terrific intensity to its black cherry fruit. Finishes with superb length and very suave tannins. Currado is now using more large Stockinger casks for this wine.

The 2011 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone is drop- dead gorgeous. Powerful, rich and intense, the 2011 flows across the palate with layers of dark, mineral-infused fruit. Smoke, tar and licorice all flesh out in a Barbera that impresses for its pure drive and pedigree The 2011 Scarrone brings together the fabulous depth and opulence of the year, but with a marvelous sense of restraint. This is a terrific showing from Vietti.
