Tasting notes
The 2014 Chardonnay is a special heritage selection Hudson made from the Wente clone, which is probably the most popular clone of Chardonnay in all of California. This wine was aged in 85% new French oak and fermented with indigenous yeasts. He never seems to be in any hurry to get his Chardonnay bottled, but this was in bottle, and there are 1,000 cases of this lovely wine, which offers classic white peach, pineapple, honeysuckle and apple blossom, some crushed rock and additional floral notes. It is medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, and just a top-flight Chardonnay to drink over the next 4-5 years.

Hudson's 2014 Chardonnay is soft, open-knit and expressive. Candied lemon, orchard fruit orange peel, hazelnut and lightly buttered notes round things out nicely. Drink it over the next few years.
