Far superior, and performing better than it did last year, is the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Cloudy’s Vineyard. Sadly, there are only 100 cases of this cuvee, which tastes like a Napa Version of a Bordeaux Pauillac. Tobacco leaf, cassis, licorice, and spice box aromas are followed by a wine with medium to full-bodied flavors, silky tannins, and significant concentration. Enjoy this beauty over the next 10-15 years. Pazzo remains the perfect bistro wine from proprietor Claus Janzen’s blend of Sangiovese and a few other grapes. Claus Janzen has been branching out into single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons, of which there are three – one from the Janzen estate vineyard, one from Cloudy’s Vineyard, and one from the renowned To-Kalon Vineyard owned jointly by Andy Beckstoffer and the new owners of Robert Mondavi.
