The last baby is the 2013 Proprietary Red Blend Hossfeld Coliseum, a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is Carter’s plump Pomerol style of wine that is Petrus-like, with juicy, mocha, black cherry, blackcurrant fruit, luscious, sweet tannins, and a juicy, hedonistic mouthfeel and long finish.

Carter's Merlot-based 2013 Hossfeld Red Blend is round, powerful and racy. Sweet spice, mint, hard candy, dark red cherry and plum all flesh out in the glass. Supple and open-knit, the 2013 should drink well pretty much upon release. A beautifully balanced, harmonious wine, the 2013 hits all the right notes. Although Carter's 2013 Cabernets are the stars of the show, the Hossfeld is a fabulous choice for drinking while those wines come together.
The 2013 Red Blend Hossfeld Coliseum is wonderfully expressive, pliant and resonant in the glass, with bright red fruit and compelling overall balance. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and mocha are all layered into the succulent finish.
