Tasting notes
Last of the wines tasted from bottle, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Bone Ash Vineyard comes from a site in Calistoga and saw 85% new oak. It's another inky effort and offers sensational notes of blackcurrants, spice box, tobacco, and incense. It's deep, powerful, and concentrated, yet has a flamboyant, sexy texture, sweet tannins (of which there are plenty), terrific balance and blockbuster length. It's a rock star in this stacked lineup.

Deep garnet-purple, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Bone Ash Vineyard reveals notions of chocolate box, tilled soil, espresso and roasted nuts over a core of warm cassis, Black Forest cake, licorice and cloves plus a fragrant hint of potpourri. Full-bodied and decadently fruited in the mouth, the generous black fruit and spicy layers are superbly structured with firm, grainy tannins and compelling freshness, finishing very long.
