Score 87/100 · Drink 2002-2014, Robert Parker, Dec 2000
From a difficult vintage, the Bordeaux-like 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve displays a dark ruby color with a pink rim. A fragrant bouquet of sous-bois (underbrush), dried herbs, smoke, black currants, and cherries is followed by a medium-bodied offering with excellent concentration as well as moderate tannin. Give it another 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following twelve. Tel. (707) 963-8600; fax (707) 963-7818

Medium-deep red-ruby. Cooler aromas of red cherry, raspberry, smoke and mint. Less plump and giving in the mouth, with less sweetness and depth of flavor than the '97. Without as much buffering extract, the tannins are more noticeable and a bit dry.
