Tasting notes
The 2015 Merlot is a charming effort, offering attractive red currants, mulled plums, licorice, and dried herb aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied, nicely textured, has moderate tannins, and outstanding length. It’s not a blockbuster, but it’s elegant and nicely balanced. Drink it any time over the coming 7-8 years.

The 2015 Merlot Vintner Select shows the personality of the vintage in its super-ripe profile and amped up red cherry jam, chocolate and sweet spice flavors. The 2015 will appeal most to readers who like flamboyant wines. I find the super-ripe, sweet style a bit much, given that these wines already have so much intensity to begin with.
Made from 100% Merlot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Merlot Vintner's Select is flamboyantly scented of warmed black plums, blueberry compote, candied violets and exotic spices with hints of garrigue, fertile loam, licorice and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, the generous black fruits are beautifully perfumed with floral hints and framed by velvety tannins, finishing long and decadently spicy. 648 cases were made.
