Made of 100% Cabernet, the deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Scholar's Gate features crème de cassis, licorice, tar, tilled soil and Indian spices on the nose plus a meaty waft. The palate is full-bodied and compelling with grainy tannins and great length.
Round Pond's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravel Series Scholar's Gate is looking very good at this early stage. Medium in body, with lovely aromatic complexity and nuance, the 2016 has a lot to say. The lavender, plum, gravel and violet flavors meld together in an effortless Cabernet that is super-expressive today.
