Score 90/100 · Drink 1997-2012, Robert Parker, Jun 1994

Burgaud's outstanding 1991 Cote Rotie is a dense, opaque black/purple-colored wine with a powerful nose of black fruits, herbs, and flowers. Full-bodied with super extraction, it offers a rich, authoritative, well-structured taste, and a whoppingly long, dramatic finish. With moderate tannin and terrific concentration, it should be drinkable by the mid-nineties and last for 15 years. Impressive! Importers: Martine's Wines, San Rafael, CA; Tel. Saturated red-ruby color. Perfumed, floral aromas of raspberry, strawberry, menthol, leather and smoke. Velvety and dense, but sappy and stylish. Finishes with strong raspberry and oak spice flavors and excellent length.
