Score 91/100 · Drink 1997-2012, Robert Parker, Jun 1997

The youthful 1995 Vouvray Moelleux (45 grams of residual sugar) exhibits power and acidity. The wine's high acid gives it a dry impression on the palate. A dense, pure, rich, honeyed fruit character is impressive. The wine is tightly-wound, but promises to blossom slowly over the next 10-15 years. This Vouvray could be served with a meal, especially foie gras dishes, as it has the requisite acidity to cut through the intense flavors and fat of such dishes. This is an exceptionally well-made, gorgeously clean, well-focused, 100% Chenin Blanc wine that merits considerable attention. Foreau enjoys an impeccable reputation in the Loire Valley. As evidenced by this offering, it is well-deserved. Importer: Neal Rosenthal, Select Vineyards, Shekomeko, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990
