Good deep red. Brooding nose dominated by medicinal black cherry. Tightly wound and youthfully monolithic, showing less floral lift than Lafarge's Volnay offerings. Powerful but not quite austere, finishing with strong tannins that avoid coming off as hard.

Vines in the middle of the vineyard – just 0.15 ha on Dolomite calcaire. Very rich, opulent nose. Dark ruby. Then quite marked acidity and tannin – quite a different build to the Volnays! Much tougher. Struts rather than dances. Dry finish for the moment. (JR)
