Deep, shimmering violet. Vibrant, mineral- and spice-accented red and blue fruit preserve, olive and baking spice aromas show fine definition and pick up a floral top note with aeration. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering appealingly sweet Chambord, blueberry and spicecake flavors and a touch of licorice. Shows impressive energy and spicy lift on a long, focused finish that's given shape by sneaky, fine-grained tannins. Two-thirds whole clusters.

While still floral and pretty on the nose, the 2019 VdP de l'Ardeche Les Iles Feray Syrah is a bigger, more tannic wine than usual, with notes of black cherries. It's almost more Saint Joseph than a lithe charmer, being medium to full-bodied, plump and fleshy, with a long, lingering finish.

Bright and sharply focused on the nose and in the mouth, showing intense dark fruit character and building floral and spice elements. Shows a smoky mineral nuance on the long, nervy finish, which features supple tannins and a strong repeating floral note.
