The 2021 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a crisp nose with brambly red berry fruit, bergamot and sous-bois scents. It is quite open knit, certainly not the more opulent style of Amoureuses that you find. The palate is medium-bodied with a delicately spiced entry. Fine tannins, just the right amount of bitterness and a gentle build lead to a classically styled finish that is a little more austere. Yet there is still sophistication in abundance and it will age with style. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru unfurls wonderfully in the glass with precise red berry fruit, sous-bois , Earl Grey and a touch of fresh fig. The palate is medium-bodied, stylish and elegant, demonstrating more depth than the Bonnes-Mares or Les Amoureuses. It stretches its arms towards the finish with a judicious touch of spice that lingers in the mouth. Entrancing from tip to toe.

The 2021 Musigny Grand Cru is one of the wines of the vintage, as has routinely been the case for more than a few years. Mingling aromas of raspberries and blood orange with notions of sweet spices, damask roses, violets and coniferous forest floor, it's full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a deep, layered core, racy acids and beautifully integrated tannins. Concluding with a long, perfumed finish, it will be well worth the wait.
