Score 97/100 · Drink 2025-2040, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Mar 2024

From vines planted in 1999, the 2021 Pinot Noir Mays Canyon opens with flinty tones that give way to pomegranate, rhubarb and blueberry aromas plus accents of mixed tea leaves, orange peel and floral perfume; it gains expression and purity as it opens in the glass, like a camera coming into focus. The medium-bodied palate features powerful, concentrated, spicy fruit. It balances firm, focused acidity with powdery tannins and finishes with tremendously nuanced flavors. It will be long lived in bottle. 138 cases were made.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Mays Canyon is laced with the essence of black cherry, plum, leather, incense, licorice, spice and dried herbs. As always, the Mays Canyon offers quite a bit of savory and earthy intensity, along with the structure to develop beautifully for years to come.

Pale ruby in colour. Herbal, with a dried-orange-peel edge and a bright cherry top note. A bit warmer and rounder and plusher on the palate than the rest of the portfolio. Cola and fine, velvety tannin. Long. (SCJ)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Mays Canyon soars out of the glass with captivating aromatics. Bright, floral and full of dynamic energy, the Mays Canyon is another dazzling young Pinot from Ted Lemon and Littorai. The 2021 dances like a butterfly and stings like a bee, as the old saying goes. Blood orange, mint and sweet pipe tobacco. I can hardly wait to taste this from bottle. What a wine.
